A little bit of British...
Saturday, January 09, 2010
Since we work at a British school, we hang around with a lot of people from the motherland. Thus we have learned a lot of terms that we generally don't have back in Canada. Here are ten of the words or phrases that have come up the most frequently...
1. Knackered .... Tired
2. Bolloxed .... Drunk
3. Alright ..... Hello
4. Mate .....Friend
5. Rubbish ..... Garbage
6. Pigeon Hole ... Mailbox
7. Shattered .....Tired
8. Minging ........ Ugly
9. Fit .........attractive or hot
10. Skint .... Broke
We are trying hard not to let these little words enter or perfect Canadian vocabulary, but it is quite difficult when you hear it all the time.
I'm knackered from talking rubbish with all those minging people. I'm used to talking with Scott and Jazz who are fit until we're all shattered and slightly bolloxed. Nothing like good mates even if we're all skint. Be sure to send a message to my pigeon hole...Cheers.
That was fan dabby dosie Tim. Well played! Scott
