The Role Of Family

Okay, so today I feel especially excited and blessed about our jobs in Thailand, mostly because of how wonderful my family and Jasmine's family have been! We are here in Kelowna for the weekend with Jasmine's Friesen family, and they have been so encouraging and so wonderful in support of us. They are almost more excited than we are. Many have plans to come and visit us. My family has been amazing as well....so supportive, and so excited. My mom and dad are planning to come and visit us (they have already secured thier dates) , and have been so amazing and helpful as we are making plans to go. The truth of the matter is simply this, we are changing everything in our lives to go to a strange land and live a strange cultural experience, and knowing that we have family who love us and pray for us and are planning to come and see us makes the challenges less daunting! I am so grateful for this. I know that not everyone has this kind of support in their family tree, so I am mindful that for us it is a gift not to be taken lightly. Amazing. 75 days till we go!

Food Fights!!!!!!!

For us as a couple, we have always had different food preferences. Jasmine likes a wide variety of foods, and the more spice the better. I like a certain set of foods, and I do not like spice at all. My mom had a word for that....oh yeah, picky! Nevertheless, the thought of moving to Thailand certainly favors Jasmine. They love their spice over there. Curry and rice and spice. Vegetables and spice. So in regards to food I was a little nervous, that is until I googled it. Ah the tourism in Pattaya has done me well. They have everything over there. From 7-11's on almost every corner, to pizza hut, to other western food places, and yes even Hard Rock Cafe, my fears have been relieved. Don't get me wrong, I will still try new things, and try to develop a taste for all things Thai, but knowing that my cullinary reliables are just around the corner certainly puts my heart at ease. 97 days till we leave!
